Jewellery SGL Report
The SGL Jewelry certificate is used to document jewelry pieces and identify the characteristics of the precious stones featured in each piece. Each SGL Jewelry certificate features a description of the jewelry piece followed by a statement of the characteristics and grading of the precious stones found in the piece. A statement listing the quantity of gemstones featured in the piece as well as a grading report of the gemstone’s weight, shape, color, clarity, cut, proportions and measurements are featured in the SGL Jewelry Certificate. In addition, the identification, weight and content of any precious metals found in the piece are described on the certificate. As a further way to identify the jewelry piece, the SGL Jewelry certificate features an enlarged color photograph of the item. Upon request, the International Gemological Laboratory can easily convert an SGL Jewelry Certificate into an appraisal certificate.

An SGL Diamond or Gemstone Certificate is a statement issued by one of our independent gemological laboratories documenting the characteristics of the stone as determined by our experienced diamond graders at the time of evaluation.
Hearts and Arrows Diamonds are precision cut variations of the traditional 57 faceted round brilliant cut. They are cut to “ideal proportions” with superior optical symmetry and a specific faceting pattern. When all these factors are in harmony the result is a repeatable, near perfect pattern of eight symmetrical arrows in the face up position and eight symmetrical hearts when viewed in the table down position.
As you research diamonds, you may have seen information about lab created diamonds versus naturally formed diamonds. Some people may refer to lab created diamonds as “fake diamonds”, imitations or simulants, but this is incorrect. Lab created diamonds share the same or similar chemical and physical properties as a natural diamond produced by the geological processes of Mother Nature. However, because of the contrasting conditions of natural and lab grown formation, lab grown diamonds display several features which allow them to be gemologically distinguished from natural diamonds. On the other hand, cubic zirconia and moissanite—which can look like diamonds—have very different chemical and physical properties and are known as simulant diamonds.
